With over 40 years of expertise in the Victim's Rights and Victimization Movement, Janice was one of a core
group that fought for Victim's Rights when there was a lack of legal protection for victims. It is with her
landmark work, writing, publications, advocacy with this core of individuals that had brought about the legal
rights and protection we see today for victims of crime. She had worked as a consultant to the Justice
Department in Washington. She is the writer and author of countless books and manuals on how Licensed
professionals should respond to victims of abuse and neglect.
She has held positions as the Director of The Cleveland Rape Crisis Center where she worked as a abuse
counselor. In the community she worked with the police department, the fire departments, school systems,
and trained them on victim response.
She has held to position of Director for a national missing and exploited children's organization, and has
worked with parents of missing children. She has worked with the police and other organizations to
awarenincrease awarness of child safety.
She is the author of 11 books. Some of the books are shown here. They include: 911: How to Respond To
a Victim of Abuse; When A Child Reports a Crime, Feeling Safe, Feeling Strong; Family Violence; and Teen
Sexuality. Her book The Roller Coaster Ride is being published this winter. This book is about a woman

She has a degree in social work, and was a licensed social worker in Cleveland Ohio for years. She is now
focusing her attention to her writing full time, and has agreed to do some consultation work through
